The Conventions Adelaide team were extremely pleased to recently announce that Adelaide has won the bid to host the 19th Biennial Congress of the World Council of Enterostomal Therapists.

This Congress is set to attract 1000 delegates to Adelaide for 5 days in 2012 and will generate an economic impact of $3.8 million for South Australia. The Congress has previously been held in China, Brazil, Italy, Hong Kong and the USA. The Adelaide Convention Bureau partnered with the highly enthusiastic and dedicated local committee of the Australian Association of Stomal Therapy Nurses to present our strong and successful bid.

“The team from the Adelaide Convention Bureau came to visit me early in 2009 with the concept of bidding for the WCET 2012 Congress. They convinced me of the signifi cant benefi ts of attracting this Congress to Adelaide – not only for the state in general but also for the Australian Stomal Therapy Nursing community. The Adelaide Convention Bureau prepared a comprehensive and professional bid submission which was the stand out destination choice for the WCET Executive Board. As President of WCET, I am delighted that Adelaide will be hosting our world congress and look forward to working with my fellow Stomal Therapy Nurse colleagues in showing off our city and setting a high standard for the future.”
