The Bureau launched the latest version of its Planners Guide 2017-2018. The Planners Guide is a comprehensive directory of the venues, products and services available to meeting organisers who are considering holding a business event in Adelaide, South Australia.

The guide, updated every year, features an extensive inventory of venues and accommodation properties, including all major conference centres and hotel properties in both Adelaide and regional South Australia.

Also featured are suppliers of professional services and products, services offered by the Bureau, in-depth information about the areas of Adelaide and regions of South Australia as well as details on the range of new developments happening around Adelaide.

The Bureau is pleased to announce that due to the success of its inaugural year, the Conventions Adelaide Grant Awards Program is back in 2017 with the support of partner institutions SAHMRI, University of Adelaide, University of South Australia, Flinders University, TechInSA, Health Industries South Australia and PIRSA.

In partnership with the Adelaide Convention Centre, and the South Australian Tourism Commission the Conventions Adelaide Grant Awards Program is being offered to academics, research and professional staff with the objective of strengthening the destination’s ability to host major international conventions in the areas of life sciences, technology, research and innovation.

Applicants are required to nominate an international conference that has the potential to be held in South Australia; present a case as to why it should be held in South Australia; and confirm support of a future bid for the nominated conference.  In return, applicants will receive a financial grant of $7,500 to support new or established research projects; purchase much needed research equipment; or undertake professional development opportunities such as attendance at a conference or further study in the applicant’s field of specialty.

This program presents an innovative and collaborative approach to compete in the lucrative international convention market with the aim of generating new bid opportunities and extensive profiling and PR leverage.

In July the Bureau hosted the first ‘Member Masterclass’ which is now part of all new Bureau Member packages.  It is the perfect opportunity to meet the team, network with fellow members and discover the inner workings of the Adelaide Convention Bureau.
