Whilst The Conventions Adelaide Program has already proven to be a success in terms of economic impact, the legacies of hosting interstate and international delegates in South Australia are far reaching and have extended beyond the obvious.

Opportunities to profile South Australia’s industry expertise and achievements to Australia and the world, create new business networks and research links in the Asia Pacific and world markets has proven invaluable.

In addition, the program has stimulated trade exports and investment opportunities through business to business relationships and attracted globally recognised leaders and speakers who have gone on to profile and promote South Australia as an international destination.

The Conventions Adelaide initiative recently welcomed its new patron Hon John Rau MP, Deputy Premier and Minister for Tourism, to the Conventions Adelaide Program.

Minister Rau’s appointment demonstrates the high level of support and backing the Conventions Adelaide Program has from State Government in attracting major convention business to Adelaide and South Australia.

In a show of the state government’s support to the industry, Minister Rau said, “I am delighted to lend my support to the Conventions Adelaide Program and the work being undertaken by the Adelaide Convention Bureau to attract the convention market to South Australia”.

Our Government recognises the great importance of hosting conventions in this State as a way of significantly enhancing Adelaide’s profile in the business, professional and scientific world, creating lasting legacies and economic benefit for South Australia. That is why we have made a long term commitment to continue building Adelaide as a truly international convention city with the $394 million expansion plans of the Adelaide Convention Centre and Riverbank precinct.

I strongly encourage all South Australian industry leaders to consider the benefits of bringing their industry conventions to Adelaide and look forward to supporting our team of Conventions Adelaide Ambassadors in promoting our great State to world convention markets”, said Minister Rau.
