DESTINATION SA 2011- ALL ABOUT EXCEPTIONAL EXPERIENCES
2011 marks the 8th anniversary of Destination SA (DSA), the premiere event on the Adelaide Convention Bureau’s calendar showcasing the South Australian business events and incentive travel industry.
The 2010 event saw record numbers achieved in terms of hosted buyers from Australia New Zealand and Asia with 65 attendees –a 20% increase on 2009. DSA 2011 to be held 2-6 August is expected to once again break records.
The continued growth of Destination SA is testament to the importance of events in South Australia in driving business development and provides a fantastic opportunity to showcase Adelaide and South Australia’s event operators and suppliers, and the state’s capability in hosting events.
The forecast value of bookings contracts related to DSA 2010 from events already committed to Adelaide is $41 million in state economic impact with the Bureau currently working to convert extensive ‘pipeline’ business connected to other buyers hosted at DSA 2010. The combined value of these hot opportunities is $25 million in state economic impact.
Evaluation conducted each year has helped to refine Destination SA to suit buyer and exhibitor needs. Changes to the 2011 event will include:
• A time effective1 day format for the main exhibition to be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre
• A dual appointment stream for each participating exhibitor
“Exceptional Experiences” is the theme for DSA 2011.
A key component of DSA is the hosted famil trips to the many tourism regions around the state. With the Bureau having recently released a number of new Incentive Travel itineraries - all based on the unique offerings the state has available to visitors, buyers attending DSA will discover many of the diverse and exceptional experiences available in South Australia.
Famils for 2011 may include the captivating Eyre Peninsula town of Port Lincoln to sample fresh seafood and local produce or Kangaroo Island which was recently voted by National Geographic Traveller as the most unspoilt wilderness in the Asia Pacific.
Whilst other states host similar events, Destination SA is considered nationally, to be one of the most targeted and effective Australian destination showcases.
