Damien joined the Adelaide Convention Bureau team as Chief Executive Officer in 2008 following his employment at Events South Australia. With his extensive experience at Events South Australia and South Australian Tourism Commission, Damien has a successful track record of facilitating collaboration across private and public sectors to position Adelaide, South Australia as a destination of choice. Damien has previously held the roles of President of the Association of Australian Convention Bureaux and Deputy Chair of the Business Events Council of Australia. He has provided strong leadership with a clear strategic focus for the Australian and South Australian business events sector.

MARY WHITE

General Manager

Mary joined the Adelaide Convention Bureau team as  an Administration and Finance Officer in 2001. In 2008 Mary was appointed General Manager and leads her team with vision and passion, constantly seeking new opportunities for growth, expansion and development whilst showcasing South Australia. Mary is proactive in promoting South Australia and leading the Adelaide Convention Bureau team to encourage members to bid for upcoming events to host in wonderful South Australia with the help of the Bureau.

NIC MERCER

Director, Sales & Marketing

Nic’s experience with events at the highest level and his strategic management and marketing skills make him a stand out for his vital role at the Adelaide Convention Bureau as Director of Sales & Marketing. In Nic’s previous roles as General Manager of the Australian Masters Games, Program Manager for the men’s teams at Basketball Australia and Director of Podium Partners, Nic has obtained an extensive background into the event and corporate sectors both nationally and internationally. Nic is responsible for the management, coordination and oversight of activities of the Bureau team to ensure the achievement of a specific sales and marketing objectives in accordance with the business plan.

GEMMA NELSON

Sales Manager

Gemma joined the Adelaide Convention Bureau as Business Development Manager and passionate advocate for South Australia in 2013 after holding positions in corporate sales management, tourism, hospitality and completing a Law degree in the UK. During her time at the Bureau Gemma has worked with key stakeholders across numerous markets to attract major national and international business events to South Australia, contributing to the Team’s most successful results on record. Gemma has now turned her focus to the leadership of the sales team; bringing her vision and strategic planning to drive the teams success into the future. In addition to sales management Gemma continues with the development of international convention opportunities related to health and biomedical sciences

DANIEL FRANKLIN

Business Development Manager

Daniel joined the Adelaide Convention Bureau in 2017 and is responsible for the Victorian market for national conferences and targeting the Agriculture, Advance Manufacturing, Defence, Education, Food, Wine, Minerals and Energy sectors for International Conferencing. He holds a degree in Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management and has a background in Hotel, Tourism and Event Operations and Management. Born and bred in Adelaide and having a passion for tourism, Daniel brings a strong local knowledge of South Australia to the team. He is dedicated to promoting Adelaide as Australia’s premium Business Events destination and strategically developing and bidding for opportunities to positively impact South Australia’s economy.

CASEY SMITH

Business Development Manager

Casey joined the Adelaide Convention Bureau in 2017 and is responsible for the development of national bid opportunities arising out of the key New South Wales market as well as conducting crucial research for international bid development. Casey brings to the Bureau extensive experience in tourism, events, hospitality & business development. Formerly from the Northern Territory, Casey is a passionate advocate promoting South Australia as the leading destination for business events, industry innovation, infrastructure, food and wine.

MIKE MELENDEZ

Business Development Executive

Born and raised in New York, USA, Mike relocated to Adelaide in 2014 and has fallen in love with all that the city has to offer. Having worked in tourism, sales, training, and large scale government programs, Mike brings his versatile set of experience and passion for South Australia to the Bureau to focus on the QLD, ACT and WA markets for national conferences along with the incentives and corporate opportunities within New Zealand.

LINDA ROSS

Industry & Engagement Manager

Linda is a career professional in the events industry and has extensive experience in hospitality, marketing, industry engagement, partnership and membership management.  Formerly the Director of Member Services with a not for profit industry association, Linda thrives on building relationships and creating success for the Members and their businesses. Linda brings to the Bureau new initiatives for the membership and will also be working closely with valued Stakeholders, Partners and Sponsors. Being passionate about South Australia is one of her key drivers along with her absolute commitment to Member engagement.

Asian Markets Manager

Lavender joined the Adelaide Convention Bureau in 2014 after completing a master’s degree in commerce, marketing. Lavender manages the Asian markets, specialising in China, Indonesia and Singapore. Lavender’s experience and intimate knowledge of the industry provide the right skill set to showcase why Adelaide is becoming a well-known destination for incentive, corporate and association meetings from Asia.

Program Development Manager

Nick manages one of the Adelaide Convention Bureau’s key strategic initiatives, the Conventions Adelaide Program.  This Program has a focus on the attraction of major national and international conventions that align with and profile South Australia’s key industry sectors and strengths. Nick is also the best person to speak to when your event is confirmed for Adelaide. Nick will take the hassle out of searching for the best business event product in South Australia with his intimate knowledge of conference venues, hotels and touring experiences.

RACHAEL ROGERS

Event Officer

With a strong event management background, Rachael brings innovative ideas, professionalism and years of industry experience to the team. With a degree in event management, post grad in marketing and an interest in floristry and theming, Rachael has a complete understanding of all aspects of event planning, including both the creative and commercial requirements needed to deliver a successful event. Rachael will be involved in managing the event calendar for Bureau Members’, planning industry events including familiarisations and showcases plus overseeing Destination South Australia and AIME events.

MARCELLA VISENTIN

Marketing Officer

Marcella joined the Adelaide Convention Bureau team in 2006 and is responsible for all marketing communications, including the member and client e-newsletters, website, social media, developing marketing collateral, advertising and brand maintenance. Marcella also supports the team with tradeshows and other communication activities. Marcella completed an Advanced Diploma in Tourism Management.

TESS KIDMAN

Research & Referral Executive

Tess joined the Bureau in 2013 directly from TAFE and has excelled through the system to the position of Research and Referral Executive. Tess is responsible for market research, generating new leads for potential international and Asia Pacific conventions and meetings to be held in Adelaide, South Australia. Tess also provides administration support for the referrals team ensuring its success continues.

RUBY BALMER

Sales Team Coordinator

Upon completing her Diploma of Events, Ruby already had a wealth of experience ranging from hospitality to charities to conferences. After winning a number of awards on her way to graduating, and working as a Sales & Events Manager at the Glenelg Pier Hotel, she joined the Bureau in 2017. Ruby plays a vital role in supporting the sales team in securing business events to Adelaide.
